PRESS RELEASE SHORT COURSE SERIES With Dr. Kevin J. Doyle

Opening a series of Online Short Course Series program odd semester 2021-2021 themed Qualitative Research Methodology, Untirta International Service Center (Pelita) presents Dr. Kevin J. Doyle from Dublin City University (DCU) Ireland on October 13 at 14.00 WIB through Zoom Platform. As presented by program coordinator Dr. Dina Rachmawati, M.Pd, the Short Course Program is Pelita’s commitment to be able to continue to present academic enrichment and empowerment programs for the entire Untirta Academic Community.

In this opening session, Dr. Doyle explains the general principles of qualitative research approaches. With a warm interest from the participants, this first session was attended by 137 participants from various cities and universities, such as Medan State University, Semarang State University, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Muhammadiyah Lampung University, Siliwangi College of Teacher Training and Education and many others. The next two series will be held on October 21, 2021 at 14:00 with speaker Vera Symasi, Ph.D from Sampoerna University who will explain data collection in Qualitative Research; and Dr. Murti Ayu Wijayanti from Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University on October 28 at the same time will be related to Data Analysis in Qualitative research.

Internationalization Of Higher Education

Enlivening the 40th untirta Dies Natalis activity series, Pelita (Untirta International Service Center) held a Webinar themed Internationalization of Higher Education on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at 14.00 to 16.00 WIB. Professor Andrew Maintyre, Quinton Temby, M. Risqi UTama Saputra, D. Phil from Monash University; Ahmad Buchori Muslim, Ph.D. Director of the International Affairs Office of the University of Education Indonesia; Udi Samanhudi Head of Untirta Service Center was present as a source explaining the implementation of contextual internationalization policies from their respective institutions.

In the opening speech, the rector of Untirta Prof. Fatah Sulaiman, S.T., M.T briefly explained the policy and vision of Internationalization of Untirta as an Integrated Smart and Green (It’s Green) University that EXCELS, CHARACTER AND COMPETITIVENESS, in the ASEAN Region in 2030. In the plenary session Prof. Andrew and the Monash team outlined the practice of internationalization based on personal experience as part of the academic one of the leading campuses in Australia; Next Ahmad Buchori Muslim, Ph.D. shares information related to internationalization practices and strategies of the Indonesian University of Education; Closed the presentation of the implementation and strategic steps of Untirta in the internationalization of institutions by Udi Samanhudi, Ph.D.

The important points of the presentation of the three sources are that the Internationalization of Higher Education is Translasionalism and collaborative which can be interpreted as a process of the institution to become a global citizen of the world that is ready and able to collaborate cross-country or globally to accelerate progress at the level of Higher Education. In addition, internationalization is also multi-dimensional so that the strategic steps of high education institutions and the personal approach of all community in practice, are needed to succeed their implementation.

Submission of Posco TJ Park Foundation Scholarship 2021 by Untirta International Service Center

Untirta International Service Center (PELITA) together with posco TJ Park Foundation team held an official scholarship submission activity to 15 students of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University who had successfully passed the Posco TJ Park Foundation 2021 scholarship selection jointly organized by Untirta through the International Service Center and Posco TJ Park Foundation. This scholarship submission activity was carried out online via zoom application on Monday morning on August 30, 2021 at 9:00 Western Indonesia Time.

The event was attended by Executive Director of Posco TJ Park Foundation Jung Hyung Soon, Representatives of Untirta International Service Center (PELITA), and 15 Students of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University who received Posco TJ Park Scholarship 2021. Both Untirta represented by the International Service Center team and Posco TJ Park Foundation hope that this scholarship can be utilized as best as possible to support the study of wardeee in Untirta and can also be used to support self-development as students. In addition, this scholarship is also an appreciation for the achievements of awardees who are very proud during their time as students in Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University.

Untirta On Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

Research Talk 6th time, August 19, 2021 at 10 WIB through zoom platform, Untirta International Service Center (Pelita) presents Dr. rer. Nat. Robby Zidny, M.Si of Chemical Education, Faculty of Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtaysaya University as a source. In his presentation, the Bremen German university graduate explained his research topic on Education for Sustainable Development in the Field of Science, Chemical Education and Its Implementation in Indonesia.

The research was conducted in line with the development of Chemistry and the current science curriculum which believes that chemical learning must also use socio-scientific approaches, and aims to improve the ability to achieve the goals of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). It is believed that ESD can empower people to change their thinking and workings in a more sustainable future. In addition, ESD develops the knowledge, abilities, and values of the community. The essence of ESD is to incorporate issues of climate change and biodiversity into the teaching and learning process.

At the higher education level, especially in the field of Chemical Education, this can be done with several approaches. The first is to adopt the principles of Green Chemistry in the practices of the science education lab. Second, add strategies as lesson content in Chemistry Education. Third, use controversial ongoing issues for scientific issues. Fourth, make Chemical Education at the higher education level as part of the development of ESD/Education-oriented schools for Sustainable Development.

UNTIRTA Network Collaboration Meeting With Universite De Technologi De Compiegne About Nanotechnology

Untirta International Service Center (PELITA) again held international webinar activities on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. This webinar is a collaboration between Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University and Universite de Technologi de Compiegne, France with the theme ‘The Sciene of Small Things’ with a focus on Nanotechnology. In this webinar, three speakers were present, among others, Prof. Erwann Guenin from Universite de Technologi de Compiegne, Dr. Endarto Yudho Wardhono and Dr. Mekro Permana Pinem who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University.

In his presentation, Prof. Erwann describes in general about Nanotechnology and how these tenocogic product objects are already around us. The content of the presentation also reached the needs of UNTIRTA academics who are also involved in the field of nanotechnology, namely about synthesis and characterization. On the other hand, Dr. Mekro Permana Pinem showed how to process the data (in this case particle size) and perform appropriate statistical analysis. The webinar concluded with dr. Endarto Yudho Wardhono’s presentation by sharing the experience of research developed between UNTIRTA and UTC France.

Faith And Tolerance In Southeast Asia’s Higher Education Institutions: Challenges And Prospect

UNTIRTA International Service Center in collaboration with the State Buddhist College and Buddist and Pali University of Srilangka held an International Webinar themed Faith and Tolerance in Southeast Asia’s Higher Education Institutions: Challenges and Prospect” online on July 26, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. This webinar presented The Rector of Untirta Prof. Dr. Ir. Fatah Sulaiman, S.T, M.T, Prof. Gallele Sumanasiri Thero from Buddist and Pali University of Srilangka, and Dr. Li Edi Ramawijaya Putra, M.Pd from the State Buddhist And Buddist College as speakers. The event, moderated by Dr. Udi Samanhudi, was attended by 194 participants from sharing institutions in Indonesia and several countries in Southeast Asia, such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

In the first session, Rector Untirta explained about tolerance as the key to harmony in diversity. With tribal, cultural, and religious religious religious, Indonesia needs tolerance which is interpreted as mutual respect, cooperation, piety to God, universal brotherhood, protection of rights and acceptance of differences. Prof. Gallele Sumanasiri Thero discusses faith, religious toleration, and universities. In his presentation, Prof. Gallele emphasized the role of humans on earth from a religious point of view, namely as a peace-carrying agent in the world that frees the world from greed, anger, hatred, and hostility.

Closing the presentation session, Dr. Li Edi Ramawijaya Putra, M.Pd discussed measures to strengthen and increase religious intolerance in higher education institutions. In fact, the Indonesian government has mandated the integration of religious toleration in the Indonesian education curriculum. As stated in Ministerial Policy no.3 of 2020. It can be concluded the importance of the role of intellectuals and higher education institutions in promoting tolerance for the creation of religious harmony.

Gender Equalities And Career Progression Of Women Employed In IT Sector In India Context

Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University International Service Center (PELITA) again held Research Talk activities on Monday, June 21, 2021. Research Talk, which is the 4th series, presents Dr. Aiswaria Patil from Pune University, India who is also a researcher at Queen’s University Belfast, UK. Dr. Patil’s presentation with the topic ‘Gender equalities and career progression of women employed in IT sector in India context’ specifically discusses injustice for women working in the IT industry in India.

In his presentation, Dr. Patil explained the results of research he conducted for approximately 1.5 years. He asserted that the results of the research obtained showed that the treatment of superiors in the IT industry in India was still not applicable to women who, among other things, were seen from the lack of progressive careers of women in the IT industry and relatively lower the amount of salary they received when compared to men who worked in the same industry.

Effective System of Students’ learning Time by Dr. Chew Cheng Meng from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)

(June 17th,2021) International Office of Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (IO-UNTIRTA) and Masters of Mathematics Education Program Graduate School UNTIRTA held an online program via zoom. Dr. Chew Cheng Meng of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was invited as the keynote. He presented a paper on “Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment of Primary Pupil’s Learning Time.”

Dr. Chew said that the average students’ learning time could be increased effectively and efficiently by using cognitive diagnostic assessment. Thus, this encourages the teacher’s goals to improve academics performance and result. This online webinar program was attended by 132 participants from various universities around Banten.

Study in The South Korea at Chonnam National University

The information sharing session was held online by International Office of Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (IO-UNTIRTA). This event invited Bobby Aditya Darmawan a Ph.D Candidate in Mechanical Engineering Chonnam National University South Korea as the speaker and Nadya Fitri Asyuni a Chemical Engineer Student Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa as the moderator. The 76 participants were university students Banten and Bandung Regions. The topic of this online program was Information Sharing about Chonnam National University depicted by Bobby Aditya Darmawan.

Bobby told about University profile, access to the university and living cost around Chonnam. Also, the available courses and scholarships were explained well by him. The Chonnam National University were open to international students around the world to study there.

By this online session, we hope to encourage and motivated the university students in Indonesia to apply and study abroad for sake of knowledge development either individual and society.

Interview test Posco Scholarships 2021 held by International Office of Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa.

The International Office of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (IO-UNTIRTA) held an interview test for the 2021 Posco Scholarship candidates. This interview was conducted at the PELITA Office, 3rd Floor, UNTIRTA’s Rectorate Building, UNTIRTA’s Sindang Sari Campus. The interviewers in this test were Dr. Udi Samanhudi, Eko Supriyanto, Dr. Eng. Rocky Alfanz, Dr. Dina Rachmawati, Dr. Mekro Permana Pinem, and Mira Maulani Utami. They interviewed 31 candidates for the 2021 Posco Scholarship who were the best students and from all faculties in Untirta. The focus of this interview is to gather information from prospective scholarship recipients, especially regarding their communication skills in English, academic and non-academic achievements and leadership skills. Those who are later selected as recipients of the Posco scholarship will be directed and prepared to take part in strategic programs from the Ministry of Education and Culture such as the International Credit Transfer (ICT) program and the International Student Mobility Award (ISMA) which are held annually by the government through the ministry of education and culture (Kemdikbud).
