(August 25th, 2021)

Research Talk 6th time, August 19, 2021 at 10 WIB through zoom platform, Untirta International Service Center (Pelita) presents Dr. rer. Nat. Robby Zidny, M.Si of Chemical Education, Faculty of Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtaysaya University as a source. In his presentation, the Bremen German university graduate explained his research topic on Education for Sustainable Development in the Field of Science, Chemical Education and Its Implementation in Indonesia.

The research was conducted in line with the development of Chemistry and the current science curriculum which believes that chemical learning must also use socio-scientific approaches, and aims to improve the ability to achieve the goals of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). It is believed that ESD can empower people to change their thinking and workings in a more sustainable future. In addition, ESD develops the knowledge, abilities, and values of the community. The essence of ESD is to incorporate issues of climate change and biodiversity into the teaching and learning process.

At the higher education level, especially in the field of Chemical Education, this can be done with several approaches. The first is to adopt the principles of Green Chemistry in the practices of the science education lab. Second, add strategies as lesson content in Chemistry Education. Third, use controversial ongoing issues for scientific issues. Fourth, make Chemical Education at the higher education level as part of the development of ESD/Education-oriented schools for Sustainable Development.
