Prof. Yeyen Maryani
Chemistry Engineering / Faculty of Engineering
My research focuses on the analysis of anionic surfactants which are widely applied as active detergent compounds. The use of detergent as a cleaning agent has been widely used both in cities and in rural areas, so it is necessary to monitor the aquatic environment so that it is not contaminated by detergent waste. My research on detergent waste treatment has been carried out since 2010, including research on detergent waste treatment technology, through the processes of photocatalysis, adsorption, degradation, ion exchange and flocculation-coagulation. The wastewater analyzed included river water, hospital wastewater, motorbike and car washing wastewater and laundry wastewater.Water from laundry waste processing has been applied for planting media and for watering horticultural plants such as chili and corn. In order to support the Center of Excellence for Food Security (Local Food Innovation), I conducted research on the nutritional analysis of palm sugar products compared to coconut sugar and cane sugar. This is in accordance with my scientific background as a chemical analyst. Research on palm sugar has been developed with the addition of other products such as ginger, milk, rice and galangal which aims to increase the nutritional value of palm sugar when made as a health drink. This health drink is very useful for increasing immunity and protecting the body from covid-19 attacks.
