On March 6, 2017, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa welcomed three delegations from Queens University of Belfast (QUB). They are Dr. Ibrar Bhatt, Dr. Karen Kerr, and Heather Taylor. Their present was basically caused by two lecturers of Untirta (Udi Samanhudi and Ezis J. Sidik) are studying at the QUB. The delegations were warmly welcomed by Rector of Untirta, Prof, Dr. H. Sholeh Hidayat, M.Pd., Vice Rector of Academic Affair, Dr. H. Fatah Sulaeman, ST., M.T., Vice Rector of Students Affair, Dr. H. Suherna, M.Si, Vice Rector of Collaboration Affair, Prof. Dr. Kartina A.M., M.P., Head of International Office, Dr. Syafrizal M.Pd. The meeting was also attended by Executive Director of IDB Project, Dr. Eng. Agung Sudrajad, Head of Academic, Students, and Planning Bureau (BAKP), Drs. Ganiadi, M.M., Head of General, Finance, and Employee Affair Bureau, Dra. Komariah, M.M., Head of Library, representatives of Deans from some faculties, and International Office staff.

The meeting was begun by speeches from head of International Office Untirta, Rector of Untirta and the most anticipated from QUB delegation. In his speech, Head of International Office, Dr. Syafrizal, M.Pd. said that the meeting with QUB delegations today was a great opportunity to build a new relation. The relationship is expected to be stronger such as in the form of MoU between Untirta and QUB. To make it happen, on September 2017, Untirta is planning to visit Queens University of Belfast to follow up MoU related to joint-research, visiting professor, collaboration in establishing food security center. As widely recognized, QUB’s food security research is the number one research in United Kingdom.

The next welcome speech is from Untirta Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Sholeh Hidayat, M.Pd. He said, “It was such an honor for me to open the event which was attended by educators from United Kingdom.” He also hoped that in the future there would be many collaborations in some fields such as research and education. In this moment, it’s time to strengthen the foundation of collaboration between QUB and Untirta to sustain another collaboration in the next future. In the end of his speech, Rector of Untirta and Ms. Heather Taylor present souvenir to each other.

Their visit was also utilized by Faculty of Teacher Training and Education particularly Department of English Education to hold a guest lecture. It was hold in the auditorium Untirta. Dr. Karen Kerr delivered a lecture concerning on how Children learn and what factors contribute to the process. At the end, Ms. Heather told to Ilmi (one of international staff) that they were very thankful of the warm welcome and thanked to Ilmi for facilitating their visit. (Ilmi/Pic:IO Untirta)
