Appointed by PIU – PIC IDB Untirta as a facilitator for IDB – Doctoral Degree Awardees, International Office of Untirta (referred to IO Untirta) has executed the mandate successfully. IO Untirta run a four-day (November 14th – 17th) bridging program at Rizen Premiere Hotel, Puncak – Bogor for 20 Doctoral Awardees. The bridging programs conducted in Puncak were two of three programs created by IO Untirta. They were workshop on academic writing and cross-cultural understanding. The other one is English Upgrading Program which is regularly scheduled twice a week on the Campus.
The first day of the event was attended by Rector yet he was represented by Vice Rector IV (Prof. Dr. Ir. Kartina, AM., MP.,) Deans of all Faculties, Students Candidate, Head of IO (Dr. Syafrizal., M.Pd) and Head of International Partnership from Kemenristek Dikti, (Purwanto Subroto, Ph.D) as the opening speaker. It was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Kartina. After being officially opened, the first day was continued with a presentation from Purwanto Subroto, Ph.D. He presented current issues in International Partnership and the role of Doctoral Candidate as International Students. Later, the main event of the opening day was a statement letter signed by Candidates in the witness of their Deans, Vice Rector IV and other participants.
Second day was more even interesting. Several speakers took a turn presenting their materials. To begin with, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kartina and Dr. Alimuddin shared their own understanding of a road map research in Untirta particularly related with Food Security. After that, a panel session presenting three speakers was held on. Prof. Dr. Yeyen Maryani., M.Si., Dr. Yayat Ruhiyat., M.Si and Yusrama Denny, Ph. D. Prof. Dr. Yeyen Maryani talked about Basic Skills in Academic Writing and the importance of patent. Meawhile, Dr. Yayat emphasizes on the urgent call for lecturers to do research. Yusrama Denny, Ph. D was way even more. He stole everybody’s attention. As a practicioner in writing, reviewing and publicing international journals, he generously shared a plethora of knowledges, skills, tips and strategies in writing. After the break, Yusrama Denny, Ph. D continued his materials and discussion on journal samples owned by the participants. Prof. Dr. Tubagus Ismail, M.Si, then, took his turn sharing his own experience writing Academic Writing. Summing up the second day, Alpha Amirachman., M.Phil.Ed., Ph.D taught participants to write Academic Writing in English well and structurally organized.
Third day was started with a presentation from Dr. H. Benny Irawan., M.H., M.Si. After that, Dr. Endarto., M.T and Dr. Eng. Alfirano delivered their presentation. They gave tips and strategies to get accepted to International Journal like Elsevier. Closing for the third day was Head of IO’s turn. He presented materials about permit for Overseas Work for Government Employees (ASN/PNS) and other administration stuff.
The last day, some lighter presentation materials were delievered. Academic atmosphere and adaption in overseas begun the day. There were three presenters, i.e. Dr. Eng. Alfirano represented Japan, Dr. Yusrama for South Korea and Dr. Endarto for European countries. Next, all about funding was explained by Executive Director IDB, Dr. Eng. Agung Sudrajad. Ending all the sessions was an International Seminar by Hadi Wahyudi, Ph. D. With a clock showed almost 12 o’clock the bridging program at Rizen Premiere Hotel, Puncak Bogor was officially closed by Prof. Dr. Yeyen Maryani as a Specialized Staff of Rector. (MI)
